We were deeply saddened to learn that our friend Joan Turner passed away last week. Joan retired as a community representative in 2016 after over 30 years of volunteering both in her own neighbourhood of Brotherod and across Rochdale Borough.
Joan worked closely with RBH over many years and contributed enormously to the development of our mutual housing society. She first became involved as a community volunteer in the 1980s, and contributed in a wide variety of roles, including as a playgroup leader and chairperson of her TRA. In 2009 she was recognised by RBH with a Communities First award.
She will be greatly missed by all at RBH, and our thoughts are with her family and her many friends.
Gareth Swarbrick, RBH Chief Executive, said:
“Joan was a real stalwart of her local community and contributed for many years to help improve the quality of housing services delivered to tenants. She was plain speaking and good humoured both in praising RBH when things went well and in suggesting how things could be done differently. She will be much missed by her many friends”
