Residents welcomed back to Olive Standring House

Residents of Olive Standring House in Littleborough had an afternoon of tea, cakes and entertainment to celebrate the completion of the repairs to the scheme.

Olive Standring House in Littleborough was devastated by the floods on Boxing Day 2015. All of the residents had to be evacuated from the building and were moved to alternate accommodation for a number of months.

The afternoon’s festivities featured tea and cakes, with top class entertainment from the funny lady with the big voice, Sue Sabine. Sue entertained the residents for the whole afternoon telling stories and singing classics.

Angela Wild, who raised the funds for the afternoon, said:

“I was moved to tears after seeing how the devastating floods had affected so many people and I had to do something. Residents have been saying that this is the first time they have laughed and felt relaxed in nine months. Having an afternoon like this gives everyone a chance to get back together.”

Rachel Saunders, Activity Co-ordinator for Supported Housing at RBH said:

“The afternoon was a lovely way to bring together the residents both old and new, and start to make new memories together within the scheme. All the residents really enjoyed themselves, with a big thank-you to Angela who helped to make the afternoon happen”
