More genuinely affordable rented homes could be on their way to the heart of Kirkholt we've submitted plans for 32 new houses at the Strand!
The new homes include 10 two-bedroom houses, 18 houses with three bedrooms, and four houses with four bedrooms. All 32 homes will be for genuinely affordable rent and are designed by Triangle Architects, who also designed the Strand Hub and the new Kirkholt health centre.
Two of the four-bedroom homes are designed to accommodate a range of adaptations, creating much-needed homes that will be suitable for families with a disabled child or parent.
The homes will help to meet our goal of increasing the supply of genuinely affordable homes to rent in Rochdale Borough, as well as continuing the regeneration of the Strand area.
Working in partnership with Rochdale Council and the local community, we have already delivered new homes, new shops for local businesses, and the new community space at the Strand Hub. These sit alongside the new health centre, delivered by the local NHS Clinical Commissioning Group and due to open later in 2020.
Clare Tostevin, RBH Director of Growth, said:
"The Strand has been transformed over the last few years based on a strong partnership between RBH, the council and the community. We are excited to put forward these further plans to deliver brand new and genuinely affordable homes to rent on the remaining vacant land. We received some great feedback from local people at our consultation event, especially about the homes which can be adapted if needed where a family member has additional accessibility needs".
