The Mutual Model

Governance is the way we are run to make sure we conduct our business effectively and work within our rules and regulations.

The new Mutual RBH will operate in a way that engages tenants and employees to take real decisions on what the priorities are for our customers and how the society will be run to achieve these.

          The Mutual Model

Members - Membership is optional but gives Members the right to:

  • Attend, speak and vote at Members’ meetings
  • Elect representatives to the Representative Body
  • Stand for election to the Representative Body

Representative Body – this will be made up of:

  • 15 tenant representatives.
  • 3 representatives from the Tenant Management Organisations.
  • 8 employee representatives.
  • 2 Council representatives.
  • 3 representatives from external stakeholders.

The responsibilities of the Representative Body will include setting the society’s policy framework and appointing (and removing) the Board of Directors.

Board of Directors - the Board will be made up of 8 non-executive directors (this means that they are volunteers and are not paid staff) and 2 executive directors (who are employed by RBH).
