We're delighted to be named as "star builder" for October by PlaceShapers.
RBH is one of over 100 members of PlaceShapers, a national network of community based housing associations. PlaceShapers members are on track to deliver 88,000 new homes by 2022, including 13,163 in the north west of England. Visit the PlaceShapers website to find out more!
We were pleased that the PlaceShapers website put the spotlight on our redevelopment of the Strand in Kirkholt. Working with Rochdale Council, this will provide 16 new apartments for affordable rent in addition to new community facilities and a new parade of shops.
Over the past year, tenants have settled into new homes on Queens Drive and Daventry Road in Kirkholt, and at Longridge Drive in Heywood. We are also currently on site in Lower Falinge, delivering 19 new homes for affordable rent.
Earlier this year, we were allocated £3.4m in Government grant to support the delivery of a further 99 new homes, as part of the Shared Ownership and Affordable Homes Programme for 2016 to 2021. The schemes will include 60 ‘rent to buy’ homes to be delivered across different areas of Rochdale borough.
These new homes will take the total number of new mutual homes built by RBH since 2012 transfer to 278.
We are really proud of the new homes we have built in the five years since 2012. We know these are greatly valued by our tenants and by the local communities. As well as providing much needed new homes this investment in our communities boosts local jobs and apprenticeships. All our homes built last year were designed by Greater Manchester based architects with all main contractors based in the North West.
Our development programme will continue to provide new high-quality homes across Rochdale borough and will now also offer new affordable options for those who would like to own their home.
