RBH has welcomed the launch of the new campaign group “Homes for the North”, an alliance of twenty large northern housing associations of which RBH is a founder member.
Homes for the North collectively provide homes for nearly one million people across the North of England – one in three of all social rented homes across the region. The new campaign will work with a wide range of organisations to raise public awareness of housing policy challenges and solutions, calling on their wealth of experience to inform regional and national policy makers about how to create more and better homes and communities.
Gareth Swarbrick, RBH Chief Executive, said:
"It is vital that housing associations across the North have a strong and unified voice that allows us to influence national policies so that they work for the communities we serve."
RBH are currently on site at Longridge Drive in Heywood, delivering 26 new homes as part of an RBH agreement with the Government to deliver 79 additional affordable rented homes over the next two years. These plans include further new development in Kirkholt and at Lower Falinge.
This follows on from the 104 new homes already completed by the mutual RBH since 2012, at Longridge Drive in Heywood, Lower Falinge, Newbold and the groundbreaking Extra Care scheme, Hare Hill in Littleborough.
