Eleven Rochdale families are settling in to their new RBH homes, following the completion of 11 new two-bedroomed homes on Queens Drive in Kirkholt, Rochdale.
The 11 homes are all for affordable rent, and have been designed to meet a clear housing need for two-bedroomed homes in the Kirkholt area.
The development was designed by Greater Manchester based architects Pozzoni, who also designed the award-winning RBH Extra Care scheme, Hare Hill in Littleborough. The building was completed by Bolton-based contractor Forrest.
The total cost to RBH of £1.2m was supported by a £231,000 grant from the Homes and Communities Agency, the national agency that helps create successful communities by making more homes and business premises available to those who need them.
Clare Tostevin, RBH Director of Communities, said:
“The completion of these fantastic new homes has transformed this former derelict site and provided much needed family accommodation for the neighbourhood. These new homes for affordable rent have been designed and built to the highest quality, and meet a clear need for two-bedroomed homes in the area.”
Councillor Richard Farnell, Leader of Rochdale Council, said:
“These smart new homes are part of the wider investment in a brighter future for Kirkholt”
Neil Ashworth, head of new build housing at Forrest, said:
“The demand for affordable housing across the UK continues to rise. Helping bridge the gap by providing local communities with quality, low cost homes remains a key part of our business model, and supports the continued development of areas like Kirkholt.”
