Benefits - Child Benefit
What is it?
Child Benefit is a tax-free payment paid to people with
children. Normally the child or children have to be living with you
but you may still be able to claim if they live with someone else,
is in care or hospital. Savings or income does not affect the
amount that is paid for each child.
Who is eligible?
Is the child:
- Aged under 16
- Aged under 20 and studying full-time (A-level, NVQ 3 or
equivalent)
- Aged under 18 and registered at the careers office for
work
If yes, to one then Child Benefit can be claimed.
How much will I get?
As at the 12th April 2010 you will receive £20.20 per week for
the eldest qualifying child and the other qualifying children will
receive £13.40.
