Switching and what to do
You can choose separate companies to supply your gas and
electricity, or you can choose one company to supply both – this is
known as dual fuel contract.
If you have never switched your gas or electricity supplier,
then you will almost certainly SAVE MONEY ON YOUR ENERGY BILLS by
moving to a different supplier. A quick check with comparable web
sites will show you if you can.
Even if you have switched before, its worth bearing in mind that
prices change all the time and suppliers are constantly coming up
with new types of tariff to win your business (see links on types
of tariffs) so it pays to check every six months to be sure you’re
still getting the best deal.
What do I need to switch
- A recent bill
- Your post code:
- The name of your current supplier
- Tariff
To compare prices being offered by different suppliers, you will
need to work out how much you are paying for your fuel each
year.
You can do this by looking at your bills for the past year. To
make sure the comparison is accurate try to use bills based on real
meter reading, NOT on estimates.
