RBH were recently approached by our trusted partner, Employment Links Partnership, and asked if our Digital IT Bursary could support Thomas, an RBH tenant, who was struggling to get back into work due to lack of IT equipment. Thomas had lost his job with an agency a few months ago when the company he was placed with redeployed their retail staff when lockdown hit to work in their warehousing operations. Thomas was keen to return to work but wanted to look at securing a permanent role which he felt would offer him more work stability longer term.
With help from ELP, he had decided to return to working in security, but needed support to gain his SIA badge. With training providers delivering this course remotely, this presented a real challenge. Thankfully we were able to support Thomas with a laptop, allowing him to undertake the course and also access other free training within the borough to upgrade his IT skills. Commenting on the scheme, Thomas said:
“This is going to help me such a lot, I can get on with my training and hopefully get back into work. It will give me a chance to learn other computer skills too.”
We’re really pleased that we’ve been able to support Thomas through this scheme and wish him every success with his training. If you think you could benefit from our IT Digital Bursary Support, why not speak to your Adviser at ELP or Rochdale Council’s Work and Skills Team.
