An update from Gareth Swarbrick, RBH Chief Executive: 29th October 2020

Hear from our Chief Executive Gareth about the latest RBH service updates, and our exciting new apprenticeship opportunities!

Hello,

Keeping each other safe during the pandemic

As you will know, on Friday 23rd October, the COVID-19 alert level in the Borough of Rochdale was upgraded to "very high" - also known as tier three.

Our top priority will always be the health and wellbeing of our tenants and employees, and our teams are continuing to deliver our services by working safely in line with all local and national guidance. By following the guidance, we help to keep ourselves safe and keep each other safe.

The latest RBH coronavirus updates are available on our dedicated website page at www.rbh.org.uk/coronavirus.

RBH’s new apprenticeship opportunities

I also want to let you know about our upcoming apprenticeship vacancies.

Earlier this year, we took the difficult decision to postpone our apprentice recruitment programme for 2020 as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. This was not an easy decision to make, as we know both the huge value that our apprentices bring to RBH and also how important those job and career opportunities are for local people in our communities. In today's economic climate, more so now than ever. However, it is important that we are able to safely provide the training and support that our new apprentices need. This was simply not possible with the restrictions we faced in summer 2020.

We will resume our recruitment for trade apprentice roles in the spring, but I am excited that this Friday, 30th October, we are launching our recruitment process for four new business apprentices. These will be based in our IT Team, our Finance Team, our Repairs Planning Team, and our Income Services Team.

To build on our commitment to create opportunities for local employment and for our tenants, we have decided to reserve these four vacancies for RBH tenants and people who live in RBH homes.

You'll be able to view these new vacancies on our dedicated website page from this Friday (30th October) until the closing date on 13th November. Our team are also holding a question and answer session on our Facebook and Twitter social media accounts on Friday 30th October from 12 noon until 1pm - if you would like to submit a question in advance, please email us on workandskills@rbh.org.uk.

In addition to our apprenticeships, we are currently advertising a wide range of vacancies - these roles include opportunities within our Neighbourhood Environment Team who are responsible for our caretaking and grounds maintenance services, and for our new team of Community Guardians who will work with the local communities in College Bank, Lower Falinge, and Freehold.

Kind regards,

Gareth Swarbrick

RBH Chief Executive
