An eviction notice has been secured against a customer whose home was a hotspot for anti-social behaviour.

The customer had only lived in her address on Bury Street, Heywood for a short length of time when we started to receive reports of incidents taking place.

There were many visitors to the flat and the customer and her visitors were using drugs in the property and in the stairwells.

Drugs paraphernalia, including needles, were found outside the property and close to neighbouring properties. There were numerous complaints about arguing, loud music and fighting – causing misery for her neighbours and those living close by.

Significant damage had also been caused to the flat and the front door. The windows were also smashed on numerous occasions.

On one occasion the customer was arrested for visiting another RBH property in Heywood that was subject to a Closure Order.

She also continued to allow her partner to live with her even though he was breaching a restraining order which was made to prevent him from entering the property or contacting her. The partner was also in breach of an RBH exclusion letter.

Throughout this time RBH colleagues and partner agencies, made repeated attempts to work with the customer, but she would not engage.

A member of our Enforcement Team sent exclusion letters to the people who were frequenting her property telling them to stay away.

At one point she signed an undertaking and the situation did improve, but this didn’t last.

The customer, who was also in significant rent debt, failed to attend a final eviction hearing in court on March 26, despite being told about it and her assurances she would attend. The possession order was served in her absence following many breaches of her tenancy.

I’d like to thank all our officers for their hard working securing this possession order. This customer’s actions, and those of people visiting her home, caused issues in her community. I hope all those affected can now get on with their lives. We want all our communities to be safe and welcoming places to live, and we’ll work with our customers, residents and partners to make this happen.  We have a zero-tolerance approach to crime and anti-social behaviour across all our neighbourhoods, and we will take action against customers who cause issues.  If you are having issues, contact us confidentially and we will support you.
