Our support for customers moving from College Bank continues.
We recently marked a milestone - our 100th offer for a new home has been accepted.
So far, 64 customers have moved out of the high-rise blocks, and our team is in the process of ensuring the transition to a new home goes as smoothly as possible for all the others.
We’re continuing to engage with the remaining customers in College Bank to assess their housing needs at times that suit them and also have a twice weekly Drop-In at Town Mill Brow community room.
One of those who hasn’t looked back since moving to a new home is Tony, who had lived in a bedsit on the first floor of Dunkirk Rise for 19 years.
He said: "The move was easy. The team have been outstanding and particularly Molly, Lisa, Michael and Mark who have become like friends to me. They can’t do enough. Even though I’ve moved they’ve still helped me out with stuff.
“RBH have been fantastic for me.
“I don't know anyone would want to stay in the flats."
Since moving out Tony says his health has improved and he has also reduced his heating bills.
He was previously paying £125 a week to heat his flat via an electric storage heater. The heat would not reach the kitchen and at times he wouldn't go in there because it was so cold.
Now in his bungalow he pays £67 a month for heating and has used the extra money he has to buy a new car - something he thought he wouldn't be able to afford.
Hannah Fleming, Director of Regeneration and Asset Performance, said: “To hear such kind words from customers like Tony is heartwarming and we are delighted he likes his new home.
“The team have worked really hard to get us to this stage and I’m proud of them all.
“This decision to start moving everyone out of College Bank was a very difficult one to take. But since day one we’ve been wholly focused on ensuring the long-term safety of our customers.
“We’re really grateful to all the customers who have spoken to our team so far, and we are committed to making sure we support them we understand this is a very stressful time.”
