We're making changes to how we manage our subcontractors, following recommendations made by our Representative Body scrutiny review. This will make sure that our customers receive a better service from contractors we employ to deliver improvements to homes on our behalf.

At their meeting on Monday 13 July, the Representative Body approved an action plan to deliver these improvements. These include:

  • new performance measures about the time taken for sub-contracted work to be completed, and better information for customers about how much time work is likely to take
  • training and support for new sub-contractors so that they are fully aware of the standards and behaviour we expect
  • a new process for inspecting work that has been completed, and addressing any issues that are noticed in these inspections
  • a new customer engagement panel to make sure we listen to the views of our customers about the work that has taken place and make further improvements

In total, we accepted ten of the 11 recommendations made by the scrutiny review panel. A recommendation to incentivise access to homes was not accepted as we did not feel that this promoted equality of service to all our customers.

If you'd like to get involved in these reviews in future, you are in luck! Representative Body nominations are open until Friday 31 July at 5pm. We'd love you to get involved - visit www.rbh.org.uk/elections now to find out more, or speak to a member of the Governance Team.
