Our friends at RSPCA Rochdale and District Branch work 24/7 to protect animals across the Borough and beyond.

Now they are calling on the support of our customers – and the wider community – to help them fund the great work that they do.

The charity has been established in the Borough since 1890 and in that time their team of dedicated staff and volunteers have helped, treated and rehomed thousands of animals.

Since moving to their state-of-the-art home at Hollingworth Lake Animal Centre in 2023 the organisation estimates they have rescued, rehabilitated and rehomed more than 700 animals including over 500 cats alone. In addition, the animal centre has assisted in the rescue of horses and taken in rescued wildlife for assessment and care before release or transfer to specialist centres.

Here at RBH we’ve seen first hand the great work many times over the years.

We often call on them to help with animals in need of care in situations we deal with in our homes and we can always rely on them to provide support to keep our furry friends safe and well.

Amanda Newton, Chief Executive of RBH, said: “The RSPCA Rochdale and District Branch do some wonderful work and the Borough and surrounding areas are really lucky to have them.

“David and his team have been a great support to us, and our customers, when we’ve needed them and we are proud to support them as best we can.  They can always be relied on to step in, often at short notice and we value our partnership greatly.

“Animal welfare is everyone’s business, they give us so much and deserve so much back in return.  We will be forever grateful for our friends at the RSPCA in Rochdale and it would be great to see people getting behind the branch and showing their support.”

The Animal Centre at Hollingworth Lake was delivered through partnership working between Rochdale RSPCA, Rochdale Borough Council, Your Trust, and RBH. Our purchase of the former site in Rochdale town centre for housing facilitated the RSPCA's move to a modern and more accessible location at Hollingworth Lake. The old building at Redcross Street was recently demolished by RBH as we look to move forward with plans for new, high quality, affordable homes on the site.

RSPCA Rochdale and District Branch is registered charity number 232257.

This branch does a phenomenal job for the people and animals of Rochdale. We’ve always enjoyed very good levels of support – and for that that we are really grateful. However, the cost of maintaining current service levels is going up and up all the time and we’d really appreciate some help. There are a number of ways people can do this – by giving money or visiting our shops in Littleborough, Heywood, Middleton, Whitworth and Rochdale. You can pick up a bargain or donate items which we can then sell to raise funds. You could also visit the gift shop here at the animal centre if you are popping into the café, or hire out The Lake Room, which is ideal for meetings. Why not sign up and become a Friend of the centre and enjoy the benefits that come with it, while at the same time helping us out?
