We are delighted to announce that the RBH Board has appointed Paul Roberts as our new permanent Chair of the Board. They have also appointed Madeleine Nelson, known as Mads, as our new Senior Independent Director.

Since joining the RBH Board in January 2023, Paul has already made a significant contribution to our organisation, bringing valuable insight, support, and constructive challenge. Over that time, Paul has also chaired our Audit and Risk Committee (ARC), helping to strengthen our governance, oversight and approach to risk management. His appointment as Chair reflects not only his extensive experience across the housing sector, but also the commitment and leadership he has already demonstrated at RBH.

Paul brings more than 30 years of expertise in risk, governance, leadership and strategy, and currently works as an independent consultant supporting housing associations and charities to develop their approach to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG), housing strategy and internal controls.

Mads joined the RBH Board in 2023 and brings extensive leadership, operational and governance experience. She is currently Chief Operating Officer at Citizen Housing, where she leads customer services, housing operations and asset management. As Senior Independent Director, Mads will provide independent support and challenge to both the Chair and the Board, helping to ensure strong governance, effective decision-making and positive relationships with customers, colleagues and stakeholders.

Both appointments reflect the strength and experience of our Board and provide continuity as we continue to deliver improvements for customers and communities.

We would also like to thank Larry Gold for his leadership and commitment as Interim Chair. Over recent months, Larry has provided valuable support to RBH and has overseen the recruitment process for these important appointments on behalf of the Board.

I am honoured to have been appointed Chair of RBH. Having served on the Board for the past three years, I’ve seen first-hand the commitment of colleagues across the organisation to supporting customers and strengthening our services and communities. I’m looking forward to building on the progress we’ve made together and working closely with colleagues, customers, the Board and stakeholders as we continue our improvement journey and build a strong, positive future for RBH.”
